The 200 guests on the Kleine Scheidegg, who were safely accommodated at the Kleine Scheidegg mountain restaurant on Thursday evening, were looked after and cared for by employees of Jungfrau Railways. Their safety has been our top priority. On Friday morning they were evacuated within approximately two hours. This was conducted partly with helicopters, partly via a second route using the Arven chairlift, car and train from Brandegg towards Grindelwald-Grund.
The storm, with wind speeds of up to 180 km/h felled several trees and caused snowdrifts. Clean-up work is still in progress. The Lauterbrunnen-Wengen-Kleine Scheidegg route will be open again on Saturday. Work is ongoing on the routes from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen-Mürren. The latest operating information can be found on our website.
Winter sports will not be in operation at the weekend.
